BELITUNG, KOMPAS.com – Track athlete from Belitung, Robi Syianturi, was welcomed like a hero after winning a gold medal at the 2025 Thailand SEA Games.
The Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Government showered the runner with cash bonuses and a specialist education scholarship for his wife.
Robi’s arrival at HAS Hanandjoeddin Airport was welcomed directly by the Governor of Bangka Belitung, Hidayat Arsani.
Robi was garlanded with a Belitong Island scarf and flowers as a form of respect for his success in the Athletic Men’s Marathon category.
“Welcome to the sons of our nation, on behalf of the Babel Provincial Government and the entire community, we are very proud of the achievements that have succeeded in bringing gold to Indonesia and representing Bangka Belitung,” said Hidayat during his welcome, Friday (19/12/2025).

Robi succeeded in becoming the fastest with a time of 2 hours 27 minutes 33 seconds, ahead of two runners from the Philippines.
Not only SEA Games gold, this runner who was born on January 8 1998 was also recorded as breaking the national record and Southeast Asian record at the 2025 Gold Coast Marathon in Australia.
As a form of appreciation, Governor Hidayat Arsani handed over a coaching money bonus totaling IDR 140 million. The details are IDR 100 million for the SEA Games gold medal, IDR 20 million for breaking the record in Australia, and IDR 20 million for the gold achievement at the Maybank Marathon 2025 Bali.
Specialist doctor scholarship
Interestingly, the government’s attention is also targeting the athlete’s family. Robi’s wife, doctor Bella, who is pregnant, received a full scholarship to study as a specialist doctor in Jakarta.
“Using the Bangka Belitung Province budget. This is a form of our appreciation as the government, because Robi Syianturi has made the nation and state proud,” said Governor Hidayat.
Hidayat, who is familiarly called the Commander in Chief, emphasized that providing these facilities is a regional commitment to nurturing the talents of outstanding athletes.

“We are proud and would like to thank Robi’s son. We will give him an appropriate bonus and facilitate specialist education for his wife. Hopefully in the future another Robi Syianturi will be born from Bangka Belitung,” said Hidayat.
Robi Syianturi, who was present accompanied by his parents and wife, seemed moved to receive this appreciation. He is determined to continue to provide the best achievements for his country in future international events.
“Thank you, Governor and all levels of the Regional Government for extraordinary appreciation. I am very proud to be able to represent Indonesia and be an athlete from Bangka Belitung. I will continue to give my best to the region and the nation,” said Robi.
