Portugal Euro 2024: Final Warm-Up Win

After the draw (1-1) recorded on Friday, Portugal and Ukraine met again in a preparatory game for Euro 2026. In the reunion, the team from the corners was stronger and won 5-2.

In front of a full Dr. Eduardo Mansinho Pavilion, in Tavira, Portugal came out strong and Kutchy and Lúcio Rocha had good opportunities to score, earning Savenko for Ukraine. At 19′, after the opponent goalkeeper lost the ball, Tomás Paçó led the counterattack and assisted Pauleta to make it 1-0. Ukraine reacted and Zvarych almost equalized.

In the second half, Tomás Paçó was brought down in the area. When converting the penalty, Tiago Brito (28′) extended the advantage. At 31′, Portugal reached 3-0 in a play in which André Correia participated. Neves, with his insistence, increased the advantage of Jorge Braz’s men.

At 33′, Tomás Paçó also added his name to the list of scorers. Ukraine then reduced through Korsun. In the next minute, Portugal made their sixth foul and Mykytiuk had a free kick from 10 meters, which Edu saved. The Ukrainians ended up scoring again in the 38th minute, through Nazar Shved, reducing it to 2-4. Tomás Paçó, at 39′, took advantage of the empty goal and, after Portugal recovered the ball, closed the score at 5-2.

It was the last preparation game before the call-up for the European Championship, which starts in January. Jorge Braz’s men, two-time defending European champions, are in Group D with Italy, Poland and Hungary.
