RKC Waalwijk & De Treffers: KNVB Cup Wins

RKC Waalwijk played hard in the Eurojackpot KNVB Cup on Thursday. The Brabanders were too strong for HSC’21 with no less than 0-9 and thus qualified for the eighth finals. De Treffers will also be awarded and will also receive a nice prize.

HSC’21 – RKC Waalwijk 0-9

RKC would not leave anything untouched by poor HSC’21, which conceded Tim van der Leij’s opening goal after fifteen minutes. Then things went fast. Thanks to a double by Chris Lokesa and a goal by Jordi Altena, the score was 0-4 just before half time.

Even before the first half was actually over, striker Van der Leij had scored his hat trick. After the tea break, Altena scored his second, after which Nazjir Held and Richard van de Venne also contributed: 0-9. Just under double figures for the Waalwijkers, who can undoubtedly live with that.

Sportlust ’46 – De Treffers 0-1

After a nice attack on the right side, Gavin Vlijter passed to Willem den Dekker, who hit the ball with a nice bang in the corner: 0-1. De Treffers got his quick goal and held on in the second half. A good result for the Groesbekers, who already made an impression against MVV Maastricht (3-1) in the previous round.

Thanks to the victory, De Treffers has also won the very first blue Pine Cone for the best performing amateur team in the KNVB Cup. The KNVB created this prize to reward amateur clubs for excellent performances in the cup tournament.

Because all other amateur clubs failed in the second round (Hoogeveen, Genemuiden, Excelsior Maassluis, AFC, Hoek, Katwijk, GVVV, Spakenburg, HSC’21 and Sportlust), and De Treffers were the only ones not, the nice prize goes to Sportpark Zuid.
