RGA Sports Team Competition – Apply by Jan 3rd | Content Writer Role

Looking for a new challenger

In keeping with the World Cup spectacle: Who wants to compete in darts against the RGA sport this time?

It is the World Cup of superlatives. Never before have so many darts professionals – there were 128 players in total at the start – taken part in the big spectacle at London’s Alexandra Palace, which runs until January 3rd. Eight Germans have never competed before. And never before has there been so much money at stake: the new world champion will receive exactly one million pounds (1,146,460 euros).

The prize money is not quite as high in the RGA sports editorial team’s now traditional darts competition with a challenger from the local sports scene, which is scheduled to take place for the ninth time in January. Strictly speaking: It’s about much more than money. For fame, honor and prestige. And above all, about having a fun evening together again at “Rack n Roll”.

Review: These were the duels so far

The first duel took place in 2015 in the Remscheid dart and billiards café, our “Ally Pally”. Back then, on a whim, we asked Facebook who would want to compete against us, whereupon roller hockey Bundesliga team IGR Remscheid was awarded the contract and won. The soccer players from SC 08 Rade (2017) and the handball players from the Bergische Panther (2018) – or their coaches – also successfully challenged us.

However, there were defeats for the FCR footballers (2016) and in the last four editions for the judoka (2019) and badminton cracks of Remscheider TV (2020), the BHC professionals (2023) and footballers of SC Heide (2025). Or to put it another way: In these duels, the RGA sports editorial team, reinforced by other employees of the publishing house, prevailed without really knowing why.
