The Russian Football Union will update sports equipment in 1032 schools that have started implementing the “Football at School” project in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 academic years. Educational organizations will receive balls, training kits, teacher equipment and football goals – a total of 63,984 units.
The basis for the selection was the final monitoring of the implementation of the “Football at School” project for the 2024/25 academic year.
The key criteria were:
– High absolute indicators of the school in terms of student involvement in the implementation of the “Football” module in physical education.
– Systematic extracurricular work: the functioning of the school football section and regular intra-school competitions.
– Dynamics and stability: annual growth in the number of students involved in football, while maintaining a level of involvement not lower than the national average.
Schools that were among the first to join the project in September 2022 in 48 regions of Russia were considered to participate in the rating selection for updating equipment. Additionally, monitoring was carried out among participants in the pilot stage conducted in the 2021/22 academic year.
Using the rating made it possible to identify schools where the work to popularize football is carried out most systematically and brings noticeable results.
Starting from the current academic year, updating equipment will become an annual practice. This will motivate teachers and school leaders, maintain high quality classes and constantly improve conditions for the development of grassroots football in educational organizations.
The “Football at School” project, implemented by the Russian Football Union together with the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, covers 6,000 schools throughout the country and is aimed at attracting the maximum number of children and adolescents to regular football lessons in physical education classes, in school football sections, as well as to participate in football tournaments and festivals. Today the project brings together almost 2 million schoolchildren involved in football, with almost half of them being girls.
