He is not the most notable player in the history of Paris Saint-Germain, but he still wore the colors of the capital club for 39 matches. Midfielder trained at FC Barcelona, Rafinha, whose full name is Rafael Alcantara, announced his retirement from professional football on Monday.
The former Brazilian international has been without a club since the end of his contract at Al-Arabi in July 2024. Previously, he had worn the colors of Barcelona, Celta Vigo, Inter Milan and Real Sociedad. Arriving free at PSG in October 2020, Rafinha signed a three-year contract before being loaned to the Basque club in December 2021. He never played again with Paris.
On his social networks, the Hispanic-Brazilian, son of the 1994 world champion Mazinho, published a video retracing his career and his exploits, he who notably won three Spanish championship titles (2015, 2016, 2019), a Champions League (2015), a French championship title (2022) and the 2016 Olympic Games at home with Brazil.
Under the video, several players and clubs paid tribute to Rafinha. “What an honor to have shared so many moments with you my brother, you are a beast. Congratulations on this incredible career,” wrote PSG captain Marquinhos.
