Quinteros aims to recover players who could not perform in a weak semester for the Avellaneda team.
Independiente had a weak second semester: not only did it go through one of the worst streaks in its history, but there were also players with performances well below expectations. Some had just had a great first part of the year, while others arrived as reinforcements in the middle of the season after standing out in their previous teams.
One of the footballers that Gustavo Quinteros will seek to recover for next year is Walter Mazzantiwhose pass cost 3,000,000 dollars. The winger arrived at Independiente after being a key piece in the Huracán finalist of the Apertura Tournament. However, everything he showed at the Globe could not be transferred to Avellaneda: he played 11 games in the Clausura Tournament, he was unable to unbalance on the flanks and he did not add any goals or assists.
On the other hand, there is the case of Ignacio Pussettowho arrived in the negotiation for Álvaro Angulo from Pumas de México. The player wanted to leave Mexican soccer and arrived in the country with little desire to stay. That reluctance was reflected on the field: despite the fact that both Vaccari and Quinteros placed him above Gabriel Ávalos in consideration, the forward was never able to show his level. Furthermore, he did not perform playing on the wings, the position where he stood out the most throughout his career.
Added to the list of reinforcements that failed to settle Facundo Zabalawho was weighed down by the Rojo shirt. He arrived to occupy a position that already had a very high bar after the departure of Angulo at left back. Coming from Olimpia, Paraguay, he arrived for $2,250,000 for 70% of the pass. Zabala could not replicate the level he showed in Paraguayan soccer and during the semester he alternated with Valenzuela and the youth team De Irastorza.
On the other hand, there are the players who had shown great performance in Avellaneda, but who dropped their level considerably in the second semester. Luciano Cabral He was one of the most disruptive players in the first part of the year and took charge of Independiente’s game with flashes of great quality. However, he was unable to sustain it: he was seen receiving too far back and not gravitating in three quarters of the court.
Also appears Felipe Loyolareference of this team. The Chilean had a sharp drop in his performance; Although he went through a series of injuries that did not allow him to be at 100%, he did not manage to live up to it in a semester to be forgotten. He was one of the best midfielders in Argentine football and even participated in his national team, but today he is one of the possible exits in this market, although at the moment there are no formal offers.
Quinteros will aim to recover the level of these players, who can be key in Independiente’s fight to win a local title. Furthermore, the possibility of playing the Copa Sudamericana again remains latent: for that, Rojo needs its classic rival, Racing, to beat Estudiantes in Santiago del Estero.
