All of them, the Domen siblings, Peter, Cene and Nika, are and were outstanding ski jumpers. Domen and Nika Prevc are currently determining the world level in this sport.
Prevc won six of the last seven competitions, sometimes with a similarly huge lead as in Oberstdorf. That is the definition of outstanding, and it is more likely than not that Prevc will cause a sensation with this outstanding form in the following three tour competitions.
“There are a thousand thoughts running through my head”
Prevc emphasizes that although his air shows look easy, they are not: “I have a thousand thoughts running through my head. I just stay focused, and I felt great in Oberstdorf.” He is 26 years old, but he has already experienced much more than is suitable for a career. He achieved his first of 15 World Cup victories nine years ago, followed by three more that winter. But after that he disappeared into the depths of the results lists for years and was sometimes thrown out of the Slovenian A team.
His jumping style – rushing forward after the jump – was considered outdated. In 2019 he won again in ski flying, after which he achieved little success until the beginning of this year. But from then on, after adapting his style – more leisurely after the jump, great concentration on the flight phase – he was suddenly back. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim in March he won gold on the large hill and with the team. Now, with Domen Prevc, a Slovenian could win the tour for the first time in ten years. Back in 2015/16, the winner was Peter Prevc.
The little sister wins almost every competition
Peter Prevc, 33 years old, is a highly decorated ski jumper himself as a tour winner, ski flying world champion, Olympic champion and winner of the overall World Cup. Together with Domen, he won the 2022 World Cup team gold in ski flying and is currently working as head of material development for the Slovenian team. In this role, in addition to the joy of his younger brother’s victory, he will have to have a lot of discussions: Timi Zajc, who was initially tied for second place with Tschofenig in Oberstdorf, failed the material control and was disqualified.

Cene Prevc, the 29-year-old TV expert, was also part of the Slovenian A-team, but was always in the shadow of his older and younger brother. Once, at the end of January 2022 in Willingen, he made it onto the podium in third place in a World Cup competition. Nika Prevc (20), part four of this unlikely flying dynasty, is considered the avant-garde of women’s ski jumping. She is a two-time world champion and last season won ten World Cup competitions in a row and confidently won the overall ranking. She is also one of the world’s best in the current season. The youngest sister of the Prevc siblings, Ema, chose ballet instead of ski jumping.
The Prevc family comes from a small village near Kranj. Father Božidar Prevc is a jump judge and owns a furniture store. Together with his mother Julijana, a librarian, he promoted the children’s ski jumping careers. He first drove Peter and then his siblings to the nearby ski jumps in Planica for training.
In the election for 2025 Sportsman of the Year in Slovenia, Domen Prevc came second behind professional cyclist Tadej Pogacar, but ahead of basketball star Luca Doncic. Peter Prevc won this athlete’s freestyle four times in a row between 2013 and 2016. Domen and Nika are also young enough for further exploits on the ski jumps. The next chance for a spectacular air show is Domen Prevc, nicknamed Domenator, on New Year’s Day in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
