CALGARY – Slovak hockey forward Martin Pospíšil could return to the ice in January and join the training process of the Calgary Flames NHL team.

The general manager of the “flames” Craig Conroy confirmed the positive news for the overseas media.

Pospišil has not started this season due to an unspecified injury, and the management of the Canadian club did not inform about his condition for a long time. At the end of the year, however, Conroy confirmed the positive news about the 26-year-old striker, which was originally reported by the Slovak media.

“Soon he should start gradually. I spoke with him on Thursday and he feels much better on the ice. I believe he will be skating with the team in January. He said he is fine on the ice and has no complications. So I believe we are moving in the right direction. I can’t confirm it 100 percent, but I hope the situation will not get complicated and he will start training and playing in January.” Conroy told Postmedia.

The Flames did not reveal what injury Pospíšil was dealing with, but with his history of concussions, there were concerns that it was a similar injury now. Whatever the injury was, the club is cautious and does not want to rush the return of the Slovak attacker. Pospíšil is known for his hard-hitting game, setting a club record with 301 hits last season.

“He wants to play again and we would also like to see him on the ice as soon as possible,” added Conroy about Pospíšil, who extended his contract with Calgary by three years in the summer. “We’ve had a long period without problems. We’ve taken our time and hopefully he’ll be back in the team in early January. I don’t know when he’ll play, but hopefully when he’s ready and cleared by the doctors, we’ll get him back on the ice.” dodal Conroy.

Pospíšil withdrew from the friendly match on October 1. At first it seemed that it was nothing serious, but he ended up starting the season on the injured list and is still out of the lineup today.
