Runner-up to Toulouse in the Top 14, Pau lost heavily, 61-12, to the English in Bristol this Sunday.
Sébastien Piqueronies (manager of the Paloise Section): «This is obviously a huge slap in the face something that we had not planned or anticipated. But it’s part of our journey. We have been working together since July, we have strong ambitions, we all really want to progress. And in view of that, the level of play that we hope to be ours, it’s sure that it’s a setback, a big challenge. But we’re going to take it on, me first.”
Lucas Rey (captain of the Paloise Section): “It’s a huge disappointment. There is a bit of shame, taking 60 points in such a prestigious competition… We sold our skin dearly to qualify. It hurts. (…) There are two matches left, we will have to play them to the fullest. We want to take points, any way we can. Disappointment, frustration, anger, you can use all the adjectives you want when you have 60 of them. It’s a defeat, yes, but we have to use it for the future.
