Onyedika: AFCON Call-Up Confirmed

Club Brugge will miss strongman Raphael Onyedika in the matches against KAA Gent and KRC Genk. Onyedika has been called up for Nigeria in the battle for the Africa Cup, in addition to Onyedika, Shandre Campbell has also been called up by Hugo Broos’ South Africa.

Club Brugge is already suffering from injuries, but now also has to miss Onyedika. The Nigerian midfielder will leave for Africa on December 15, where he will play in the African Cup of Nations from December 23. It remains to be seen how long Onyedika will be absent.

Nigeria and Onyedika are in a group with Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda. If Nigeria survives the group stage and can advance, Club Brugge may have to miss Onyedika even after the New Year.

Onyedika is still available for Club Brugge this week. Blauw-Zawrt will compete against Arsenal in the Champions League and will then take on Dender in the Jupiler Pro League.
