The fourth season will have been good… Team 1 of the Olympic Badminton club of Concarneau (Bocc) is guaranteed to return to Regional 3, at the start of the 2026 school year. The group benefited from the arrival of two defectors from Quimper and Quimperlé.
No less than ten points already separate the Concarnois, leaders of Departmental 1 from their runner-up, Le Relecq-Kerhuon. In other words, an impassable Everest. Bocc benefited this season from the arrival of Agathe Burgaud, 19 years old, and Marion Laurent-Loyant, 23 years old, former players from Quimper and Quimperlé who are classified, individually, Nationale 3. “The atmosphere is family in Concarneau. This is what we were looking for,” the two young women emphasized this Monday, December 15, during the training session. “We will support the club in its plan to move up to the higher levels and evolve together. » Agathe and Marion particularly appreciate the advantages offered by Bocc: free shuttlecocks, reimbursement of travel to Interclubs, support for registrations for team tournaments. “Not all badminton clubs offer this,” they specify.
The case of the closure of the Saint-Joseph gymnasium
For the reserve team in Departmental 2, the climb is not yet achieved. “We are at the top of the provisional ranking, but only a few points behind our direct opponent. It’s quite tense,” recognizes Éléonore Desgrouas, assistant captain of the team and co-president of Bocc. “There are still two days left to make a difference. » If the sporting results live up to expectations, the club will nevertheless have to quickly resolve a major problem. “The gymnasium at Lycée Saint-Joseph where we train on Tuesday and Friday closes for work,” regrets the young president.
“These sessions are important because they are supervised by professional coaches, Patrick Brabant and Joël Mevel. We absolutely need an alternative solution. We are in talks with several municipalities in the Concarneau Cornouaille agglomeration. » Bocc will not be the only club to be impacted by this closure. The Saint-Joseph gymnasium therefore hosts numerous sports practices all year round, in the evenings or on Wednesday afternoons.
