OL Departure: Lyon Player Leaves Before Transfer Window

An operation win-win.

Even before the opening of the winter transfer window, OL records a first start. This Monday, his full-back Saël Kumbedi, loaned last summer to Wolfsburg with an option to buy, was definitively recruited by the current 14e of the Bundesliga. The Lower Saxony club has decided to exercise the purchase option of six million euros (with 2 million possible bonuses) for the 20-year-old Espoirs international, on which OL retains a 20% interest on a future sale.

A great comeback for Kumbedi

Welcome money for the team led by Michele Kang, who although she saved the club from bankruptcy this summer, once again saw their payroll regulated by the DNCG for this season. Lacking playing time last season and behind Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Clinton Mata in the hierarchy of right-backs in Lyon, Kumbedi had started his German bet very badly, scratching very little playing time at the start of the season with the Wolves.

First put on the bench, the player trained in Le Havre has gradually established himself in the Wolfsburg elevenwhich remains stuck in the second part of the table of the German championship despite a return to form (two victories in the last three championship matches). As proof, Kumbedi remains on ten starts in a row with the VfL, with whom he notably distributed four caviars in the championship.

Lyon has its check, all that’s left to do is find an attacker!
