Morelia, Michoacán, December 26, 2025. – The Atlético Morelia-Universidad Michoacana men’s team had a great first round in the Third Professional Division League (TDP) and the results have been seen both collectively and individually, because in addition to leading Group 11, two of its players were selected for the Torneo del Sol, a competition in which the best Under 18 soccer players in the championship play.
The Nicolaita elements summoned to the representative of Group 11 are the goalkeeper, Francisco Cervantes, and the winger, Fredy Vargas, who will participate in this contest for the second consecutive year. In addition, this team is led by the Zorros coach, Gustavo Farías, who earned this distinction by being the coach of the team that leads the sector.
It is worth mentioning that both Francisco and Fredy are among the players who have accumulated the most minutes in the TDP League after the first 11 games, since the goalkeeper has played in all 10 games and has totaled 900 minutes, while the winger has participated in all 10 games, accumulating 865 minutes.
This edition of the Torneo del Sol will take place from January 7 to 17, 2026 at the facilities of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) in Toluca, State of Mexico, and the best Under 18 players from the TDP League and the amateur sector will participate, as well as the league team.
