JAKARTA – Young Indonesian skateboarder, Ni Wayan Malana Fairbrother, expressed his pride after successfully presenting a silver medal for the Red and White contingent at the 2025 SEA Games. Behind his success at a young age, Malana is now setting a much higher target, namely making the nation proud on the Olympic stage.
Malana was one of the athletes who stole the most attention during the 2025 SEA Games. This is because the 13 year old athlete has a typical European appearance complete with blonde hair, but has a name that is very synonymous with Balinese culture, where she was born and raised.
His ability on a surfboard is no joke. Malana successfully won a silver medal in the women’s street event after collecting a total of 125.42 points in three attempts. He was only a point behind the host athlete from Thailand, Chunkao Udomphen, who won gold with a score of 160.34.
1. Pride at the First SEA Games
Malana admitted that she was very happy with the achievements she achieved. Moreover, this was his first experience competing in a multi-event event in Southeast Asia and he immediately succeeded in donating a medal for Indonesia.
“I am very happy to be able to get a medal. I am very proud of myself, as are my mother and father who feel very proud,” said Malana when met at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Thursday (18/12/2025).
“This is my first SEA Games and I am very happy to be able to represent the Red and White flag,” he added.
2. Heart Choice for Red and White
Interestingly, Malana admitted that the silver medal was beyond her initial expectations. Previously, he felt he only had a chance to rank fourth or at most win a bronze medal amidst tight competition.
