In the women’s singles badminton round of 16, Nguyen Thuy Linh, the fourth seed and a huge prospect for the Vietnamese national team, faced Amartya Pratiwi, who is currently ranked much lower in the world at number 82.

Despite being expected to dominate the first set, Nguyen Thuy Linh started somewhat sloppily and lost concentration, giving Amartya Pratiwi a lead of up to 15-9, forcing her into a difficult chase.

However, based on his composure and wealth of experience, Vietnam’s No. 1 player quickly regained control of the match and turned the situation around by winning important points one after another, eventually winning the first set 21-16.

Entering the second set, Tui Lin once again got off to a disadvantageous start and lost the lead early. Amartya Pratiwi’s agile playing style created many difficulties for Thui Linh, and the Vietnamese player was constantly having to catch up.
At one point, the Indonesian national team widened the lead to 20-17, putting Tui Lin in danger of having to go to the final set.

Thanks to Tui Lin’s unwavering effort and rich experience, she gradually narrowed the gap to tie the score at 20-20, rekindling hopes that she could end the match within two sets.

Tuilin and her coach constantly exchanged brief conversations off the court to adjust their tactics whenever an opposing player unexpectedly chased them at a critical moment during a game.

But at crucial moments, the young Indonesian player showed more accuracy and tenacity.

Amartya Pratiwi won two crucial points to close the set at 22-20, tying the two sets at 1-1.

Entering the decisive third set, Tui Lin regained concentration and tried to control the flow of the game, and quickly won the first point to boost morale, escaping from the aftermath of two sets where she had lost a close game.

Thuy Linh’s constant attempts to score often threw opponents out of the flow of the game, and Amartya Pratiwi had to change the rhythm of the game to avoid being caught up in the Vietnamese player’s style of play.

However, Amartya Pratiwi showed explosive performance afterward, constantly increasing the pace and putting pressure on her opponent, eventually ending the final set with an overwhelming victory of 21-14.
In the end, the young Indonesian player defeated Nguyen Thuy Linh 2-1 (16-21, 22-20, 21-14) to advance to the next round.
