NFL Germany: Munich Games Confirmed for 2026 & 2028

La National Football League (NFL) announced this Wednesday that Munich will have regular season games in 2026 and 2028 as part of the partnership agreed with the city and FC Bayern Munich of the Bundesliga.

“Germany has enormous strategic importance for the NFL in Europe and our return to Munich demonstrates the league’s long-term commitment to offering games in this market,” said Alexander Steinforth, general manager of NFL in Germany.

The matches will take place in the Allianz Arena, home of FC Bayern Munichwhich was the first to host an NFL game in the country in the 2022 season, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with Tom Brady at the controls, defeated the Seattle Seahawks 21-16.

According to league data, Germany is one of its fastest growing markets in Europe with more than 20 million fansfollowed by the United Kingdom, with 17.3; France, with 14.2 million, and Spain, with 11.3.

Since 2022, the NFL has scheduled five regular season games to be played in Germany.

In 2023, Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs beat the Miami Dolphins 21-14 and the Indianapolis Colts beat the New England Patriots 10-6 at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt.

Allianz Arena hosted a game again in 2024 with the Carolina Panthers’ 20-14 victory over the New York Giants.

Last November 9, the Olympic Stadium in Berlin hosted the Indianapolis Colts’ 31-25 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

Now matches are assured regular season in 2026 and 2028 at the home of Bayern Munich and in 2027 and 2029 in Berlin.

The holding of regular season NFL games in Europe began in 2007 in London, which has hosted 40 games.

In addition to Germany, which has hosted five matches, this year the league had its first games in Spain, at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, home of Real Madrid, and in Ireland, at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.

For the 2026 season, the NFL has confirmed matches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, in Australia, with the Los Angeles Rams as one of the designated teams; at the Maracaná stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and two more at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
