NFL Germany: Funding for German Players

Offensive tackle Felix Lepper has the chance to play in the American professional league in 2026.

The German football player Felix Lepper can quietly hope for a place in the National Football League (NFL). The 23-year-old Hesse was selected for the International Player Pathway Program (IPP).

He previously played as an offensive tackle for the Hamburg Sea Devils in the European League of Football (EFL).

Lepper is one of 13 athletes from around the world who will prepare in Florida for ten weeks starting in January to demonstrate their skills in front of NFL club scouts. The German Jakob Johnson once made it to the New England Patriots through the funding program.

Three Germans there last year

Probably the best-known player who made it into the NFL through the IPP program is the Australian Jordan Mailata. The offensive lineman won the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles in February.

Last year, offensive tackle Leander Wiegand (currently under contract with the New York Jets), tight end Maximilian Mang (New York Giants) and kicker Lenny Krieg (Atlanta Falcons) took part in the program.
