Donovan Mitchell scored 48 points, including 24 in the final quarter, to save Cleveland in Washington, while Joel Embiid had his best regular season night in almost two years on Friday in the NBA.

Trailing by 15 points at the start of the last twelve minutes, the Cleveland Cavaliers were saved by Donovan Mitchell, author of 48 points (17 out of 31 shooting) including 24 in the last quarter for a final success 130-126 in Washington.

Best record in the East in the spring, the “Cavs” thus avoided the affront of a defeat at the bottom, but remain in an insufficient 7th place (15-11).

Embiid see showcase

Even if he still appears borrowed from his glory years, Joel Embiid greatly participated in Philadelphia’s success against the Indiana Pacers 115 to 105 with 39 points, his best performance in the regular season since January 2024.

The 31-year-old American-Cameroonian, MVP in 2023, has not had a full season since, hampered by several injuries and operations, the last on his left knee in April. He played only his 10th match on Friday, out of 24, of the 2025-2026 financial year.

Detroit rolls on Atlanta

The Detroit Pistons, at the top of the Eastern Conference (20-5), crushed the Atlanta Hawks 142-115, despite Jalen Johnson’s new triple-double (19 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists), the 3rd in a row and the 5th this season, franchise records. The Pistons took off in the 2nd quarter thanks to a great collective effort, with eight players at 10 points or more.

The Chicago Bulls ended a series of seven defeats by winning 129 to 126 in Charlotte, with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists from Australian Josh Giddey, compared to 33 points from rookie Kon Knueppel.
