SANTO DOMINGO, RD- The Dominican Badminton Federation (FEDOBAD) announced that this Sunday the 7th, starting at 9:30 in the morning, the final phase of the Air Badminton Nagua 2025 National Tournament will be held on Poza de Bojolo beach, María Trinidad Sánchez province.
This was made known by Nelson Javier Ozuna, president of FEDOBAD, through an informative note sent by the press and communications team of that sports organization, highlighting the great enthusiasm among the badminton players who will perform in the new modality that is played outdoors; in this case, on a beach like Poza de Bojolo, located five kilometers from Nagua.
The head of the FEDOBAD also highlighted the great year that this sport has had at the national and international level with the holding and participation of its teams in several large-scale events in several countries in the area.
In this regard, he thanked the support provided to FEDOBAD, the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MIDEREC) and the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI) for integrating and giving participation to this sport in the country’s educational centers.
Highlights performance abroad
Javier Ozuna gave credit to the performance of his athletes in the XX Bolivarian Sports Games Ayacucho-Lima Peru 2025 and in the Open San Salvador 2025 International Tournament, in El Salvador, events in which they obtained silver and bronze medals, respectively.
In the great South American event, the athletes Nairobi Jiménez and Clariza Confident Pie stood out, who obtained the silver medal in a close match in which the Creoles demonstrated their great progress in the sport of racket and shuttlecock.
In this regard, Nairobi Jiménez said she was very happy that together with her teammate they were able to achieve second position in said Latin American competition.
Meanwhile, in El Salvador, Argenis Maríñez Ulloa and Ernick Zorrilla won the bronze medal at the El Salvador 2025 Open International Tournament by beating Costa Ricans José Federico Cambronero and Takeru Fujisawa with a score of 21-15 and 21-16.
In this regard, the members of the tricolor duo said they felt very satisfied with the performance they had against the Ticos players in a match that took place in the badminton pavilion of the Central American capital.
“We are very happy and satisfied with this result,” said Argenis Maríñez Ulloa when interviewed via “zoom” by the communications team of the Dominican Badminton Federation (FEDOBAD).
Meanwhile, Ernick Zorrilla, who had surpassed the Salvadoran Héctor Augusto Acosta, on an individual level, highlighted that thanks to the support that various sports and recreational organizations in the country have been giving him, “we have had a commendable performance in this tournament.”
The Dominican delegation that attended Lima, Peru, was headed by the president of FEDOBAD, Nelson Javier Ozuna, and made up of athletes Nairoby Jiménez, Alisa Juleixi Acosta, Víctor Ovalles, Yonatan Linares, Clariza Confident, Anderson Taveras, Daniela Acosta and coaches Wilton Tavárez and Maykel Moreno (Molivo Press).
