In 2025, crowds of spectators will again flock to the stadiums. Which games took place in front of the biggest crowds of the year? We give you the annual overview.

Bundesliga: Dortmund, always Dortmund

The largest stadium in Germany once again attracted the most spectators this year. All of BVB’s Bundesliga home games were completely sold out with 81,365 spectators. The current season’s viewer table (top 100) is also led by Borussia.

2nd Bundesliga: Hertha BSC against Hamburger SV (71,500 spectators)

In the 2nd Bundesliga, the game between Hertha BSC and Hamburger SV took place in front of the largest number of spectators. The January game was watched by 71,500 spectators in the sold-out Olympic Stadium. In addition to the game against HSV, Berlin’s Hertha broke the 70,000 spectator mark in two other games. In March, 70,159 spectators came to the duel against FC Schalke 04, and at the beginning of November 70,914 spectators against Dynamo Dresden.

3rd league: Dynamo Dresden against FC Erzgebirge Aue (31,858)

The Sachsenderby between SG Dynamo Dresden and FC Erzgebirge Aue took place in front of the most spectators in the 3rd league this year. With 31,858 spectators, the Dresden team also set their attendance record in the newly built Rudolf Harbig Stadium. Over 30,000 fans regularly flocked to the Black and Yellows’ home ground. Apart from the SGD, only Alemannia Aachen cracked the 30,000 spectator mark.

Regional league: MSV Duisburg – Rot-Weiß Oberhausen (27,117)

While the 3rd league lost SG Dynamo Dresden, the club with the highest average attendance in league history, in the summer, a worthy representative, MSV Duisburg, returned to the 3rd league. In the regional league, the MSV fans set fantastic records. The record number of 27,117 spectators who came to the Revierderby against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen fell in January. In the spring, over 16,000 fans of the white-blue team set the away record at the away game at Borussia-Park in Mönchengladbach.

Oberliga: Sportfreunde Siegen – VfL Bochum II (4,893)

As in the 3rd league and regional league, the calendar year’s attendance record goes to a promoted team. The duel between Sportfreunde Siegen and VfL Bochum II, who were promoted together from the Oberliga Westfalen to the Regionalliga, was watched by 4,893 spectators in the Leimbachstadion. In the Regionalliga West, the winners lead the audience table for the 2025/26 season.

Association league: Stahl Brandenburg – BSC Süd 05 (4,703)

The city derby in the sixth-tier Brandenburg League electrified the crowds at the end of October. 4,703 spectators saw the derby victory of the former second division and GDR top division team BSG Stahl Brandenburg. The game even pushed the sixth division club into the top 100 clubs with the most spectators in Germany for weeks. It wasn’t until the end of the year that the Brandenburgers slipped out of the top 100.
