Mitsubishi Electric: First Japanese Sponsor of FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has announced that it will become the first Japanese company to participate in the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series, a three-a-side women’s basketball tournament sponsored by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), starting in the 2026 season.

The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series is an international women’s three-a-side basketball tournament featuring national teams and corporate commercial teams. The 2026 season will have multiple rounds held around the world, with the top eight teams advancing to the finals to be held in Shanghai, where they will compete for the championship.

Mitsubishi Electric will select players from the 5-person women’s team “Mitsubishi Electric Corers,” which it runs, and form the commercial team “MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC” as an official partner of this tournament.

Regarding the participation in the tournament, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis made a welcome comment. “We welcome Mitsubishi Electric to the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series. Mitsubishi Electric’s participation demonstrates the continued development of 3×3 basketball globally, supports the growing profile of the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series, and strongly supports FIBA’s strategic priority of promoting the development of women’s basketball around the world.”

FIBA 3×3 Managing Director Alex Sanchez also expressed his expectations, saying, “We believe Mitsubishi Electric’s participation in the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series is a sign of the worldwide popularity of women’s 3-a-side basketball. The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series has garnered record interest and popularity in recent years, and with the new addition of Mitsubishi Electric’s commercial team, we hope the sport will become even more popular in Japan and around the world.”
