Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has extended his contract with Al-Ahli, which runs until 2026, for another two years. The 33-year-old Senegalese, who is now bound until 2028, moved to the Saudi Pro League in July 2023 for 18.5 million euros after three seasons at Chelsea. Al-Hilal only paid more in August 2023 for the Moroccan keeper Yassine Bounou (34): 21 million euros to Sevilla FC.

Mendy was between the posts 92 times for the nine-time champions of Saudi Arabia, conceded 94 goals and kept a clean sheet 39 times – meaning the veteran kept his goal clean in 42 percent of his appearances. In May 2025, Mendy won the AFC Champions League title with Al-Ahli.

The team is coached by the German Matthias Jaissle (37), the most valuable player is the former Stuttgart player Enzo Millot (23) with a market value of 35 million euros. Mendy was named World Goalkeeper of the Year at “The Best FIFA Football Awards 2021”.
