Mazzù Praises Player: Potential for Big Club Move

Tobe Leysen was already Leuven’s best player last season. This is again the case this season, and according to Felice Mazzù, the goalkeeper has the qualities to evolve in a club “with the means and the ambition to reach the summits.”

After the split between RAAL La Louvière and OHL, Felice Mazzù praised the performance of his goalkeeper, Tobe Leysen, specifying that his level of play was not a surprise. “This is the Tobe we see in training, he had an exceptional match,” declared the T1 of the Louvanistes.

Mazzù added that the qualities of his goalkeeper, who had complained about the state of the synthetic pitch at the Easi Arena, could allow him to evolve even further. “He will play for a big club one day, whether soon or later,” he assured.

Tobe Leysen could play for a big club

The coach then qualified his remarks so as not to describe OHL as a small club. “You also need to know what a big club is, because if I say it like that, you might think I’m calling Louvain a small club. OHL has ambition and structure, even if the results have been mixed in recent years.”

Mazzù recalled that he wanted to contribute to the growth of the club, which is developing structurally to move away from the red zone of the Jupiler Pro League. His comments about Leysen were therefore not intended to devalue Louvain.

“What I want to say is that if Tobe has to leave one day, it will definitely be for a club that has the means and the ambition to fight for the top,” concluded the coach. And given his goalkeeper’s performances since the start of the season, it’s difficult to prove him wrong.
