Elected on November 29th, Mattheus Montenegro took office as the new president of Fluminense this Friday (19/12), at a meeting of the Deliberative Council held in the club’s Salão Nobre. Ricardo Tenório took office as general vice-president. Authorities, advisors, benefactors, guests and former Tricolor athletes were present in Laranjeiras.

Mattheus Montenegro and Ricardo Tenório were elected with 3,282 votes. The election was the largest in the history of Fluminense, with 4,619 total votes.

“Fluminense fans can expect a president who will always give his life for this club. I have always been like this, whether in the stands, as vice-president of Institutional Relations, as general vice-president and now as president. They can expect a president who really understands the importance of the stands and the connection that must exist between the team and the fans. Fluminense is very strong when the fans play together and I will work to ensure that we are together throughout the period that I am here. Together we are very stronger and that’s what I’ll always look for”, said Mattheus.

Ricardo Tenório spoke about the challenge in the new position. “Passion mixes with the mission of doing a job worthy of the size of Fluminense. I only ask God for health, for me and for Mattheus, so that we can meet all the fans’ desires, which are also our desires. That we can bring this childhood passion to the administration. That we have the discernment to do an excellent job and maintain the legacy left by president Mário Bittencourt, who did an excellent job”, he stated.

In a meeting held before the inauguration ceremony, the Board of Directors of the Deliberative Council and the Fiscal Council were elected by acclamation for the three-year period 2026-2028. Marcos Esteves Simões takes over as president of the Deliberative Council, while Ivan Perrone Teixeira will be vice-president. Julião Vasconcelos de Melo and José Melo da Silveira are the 1st and 2nd Secretaries, respectively.

Members of the new Fiscal Council are Rodrigo Oliveira, Marcos Amaral and Maria Cristina Teixeira Dias. José Guilherme Vasconcelos, Paulo Quartarone and Fábio Cardoso are the substitutes.

Mário Bittencourt congratulated Mattheus Montenegro and wished success to the new tricolor president. “I’m very happy because the election was beautiful and we won with a very good percentage. I think it’s recognition of a six-year effort that Mattheus was part of. In addition to being happy, I’m very calm about passing the club on to someone who has been with us for six years, knows the club a lot, is prepared to manage the club, for moments of joy and moments of difficulty. It’s a feeling of duty accomplished, of joy and peace, knowing that the club will follow its path being led by a great president,” he declared.
