Matías Grande: Goalkeeper Prospect to Watch

The Mexican archer and multi-medal winner Matías Grande continues to forge his history with arrows of glory that increasingly bring him closer to the top positions

The goalkeeper Matías Grande is one of the greatest exponents of local Mexican sport and at 21 years old he is already an international multi-medallist. In addition, he has participated in the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

“I thank the people who encouraged me and told me to try, get along with the elders, try, keep fighting and not go so much for momentary things like parties. “If I had rejected in 2022, the podiums in the Pan American Championships would not have been achieved, or anything today,” he pointed out.

It should be noted that in 2022 Matías was on the verge of refusing to be part of the Mexican team, but in the end his integration into the National Center for the Development of Sports Talents and High Performance (CNAR) was what helped him develop comprehensively.

“They give us enough support to achieve a very good result, and it is something that has been demonstrated over the years, where the coaching staff is the one that is always there,” he commented.

His career was consolidated in 2023, when he won two golds for teams and mixed teams at the San Salvador Central American Games, in addition to a fourth place for mixed teams on the fourth date of the World Cup Series, and closed with a flourish at the Pan American Games in Santiago, by winning team silver and mixed team bronze, as well as an individual silver metal to secure an Olympic berth in Paris 2024.

That year of Olympics consecrated him as continental monarch in the Pan American Championship held in Colombia; while this year he obtained his first individual crown in the World Cup Series, with the event held in Spain.
