It’s the shock of the 16th day of Ligue 1. After their respective victories this week in the Champions League, Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco meet this Sunday evening for a summit match at the Vélodrome stadium.
The stakes for both teams? Staying in the wheel of RC Lens and Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the rankings for the Phocaeans, relaunching themselves in the race for Europe for the Monegasques.
Roberto De Zerbi’s men, beaten last weekend in Lille (1-0), are coming out of a complicated match on the pitch of Union Saint-Gilloise in C1 (2-3). They did not make much of an impression in Belgium despite their success and will have to continue against an opponent they have only beaten once in the last five confrontations.
Paul Pogba withdraws
For its part, Monaco shines more on the European scene than in the championship: while it has lost four of its last five matches in Ligue 1, the Principality club in C1 has been undefeated in C1 since September 18.
Highly anticipated on the Vélodrome lawn, Paul Pogba will not make the trip to Bouches-du-Rhône. Discomforted in the tendon of one knee and affected in the left calf, the French international was not retained in the group by his trainer Sébastien Pocognoli.
The match of the 16th day of Ligue 1 between OM and AS Monaco will kick off at 8:45 p.m. this Sunday, December 14. The meeting will be followed live on the Ligue 1 + platform.
