Santeramo Shines at Italian Badminton Championships: Leone Dominates,SEI Champions Inclusion
Palermo,Italy – The 48th Italian Badminton and parabadminton Championships,held from November 28-30,2025,showcased the pinnacle of national talent. Among the standout performers was the amateur sports association Sport Experience Ideas (SEI) of Santeramo,whose athletes,Miriana Giove and Mariagrazia Leone,under the guidance of coach Giovanni Moretti,made a meaningful impact.
While Miriana Giove made her debut in the Italian event, demonstrating promising skills despite an early exit against Kristin Haxhiu of “Brescia Sport Più,” the spotlight undeniably belonged too Mariagrazia Leone.leone delivered a historic performance, clinching an extraordinary three Italian titles.she emerged victorious in the women’s singles, the women’s doubles alongside Martine Monongoulou Ngatougo (ASAM Isernia), and the mixed doubles with Giuseppe Maurizio (ASAM Isernia). Her remarkable achievement was recognized by the president of the Italian Badminton Federation, Carlo Beninati, who presented her with her accolades on the podium.
The Santeramo contingent also celebrated the success of Fabio Caponio, representing the Centro Sportivo Aeronautica Militare, who secured the Italian championship in men’s singles. Ernesto Maiullari further contributed to the local presence as an official referee for the prestigious event.
Vincenza luce, president of SEI, expressed immense pride in Leone’s continued success, noting it as her third consecutive championship. This achievement is a testament to our unwavering commitment to sports promotion, catering to amateur, competitive, and Paralympic athletes alike,

In line with SEI’s dedication to these principles, the association announced a conference scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025, at IISS “Pietro Sette.” Titled Gender Equity in Sports Work and Safeguarding,
the event is made possible through the collaboration of school director Angela Sirressi and the patronage of the puglia Region Council’s “Future Puglia for Equality” initiative. A key component of the conference will be the presentation of survey results on the perception of gender equity in sports,compiled by students from Santeramo.
