Manchester United alternated between the good and the less good to beat a very weak Wolverhampton team 4 to 1, in distress this season, and put themselves back in the leading pack of the Premier League, Monday at the end of the 15th day.
In an extremely dense first part of the table, United, 12th before kick-off, climbed to 6th place (25 points), tied with Chelsea (5th) and five lengths from the podium. Against a shockingly weak team, which has not achieved the slightest success since the start of the season in the championship, Ruben Amorim’s players opened the scoring through Bruno Fernandes with a gag goal, despite two slips (1-0, 25th).
But after several big missed chances, the Red Devils may have erred on the side of overconfidence. They let Wolverhampton raise their heads and equalize just before the break, through former Strasbourg player Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, who acrobatically took a cross from the penalty spot (1-1, 45th+2). Wolves’ first goal in the league since October 26!

Manchester regained its seriousness at the start of the second half and with a good ball release, Bryan Mbeumo gave MU the advantage (51st). Bellegarde, who was expected to participate in next summer’s World Cup with the Haitian team, was then injured and had to limp off the pitch, and his teammates subsequently collapsed. Mason Mount, nicely served by Bruno Fernandes, made the break (3-1, 62nd), and the Portuguese completed his evening with a final goal from the penalty spot (4-1, 82nd), under the desperate eyes of the public at Molineux Stadium.
