Man Arrested: 4,000 Firecrackers Seized

The arrest was made after an operation at the intersection of Velarde and La Paz streets, in the Centro neighborhood

Information from the State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE) indicates that on the afternoon of Sunday, December 28, agents of the State Police, as well as the National Guard, arrested a 22-year-old man after, after a search, they found him with more than 4 thousand pieces of fireworks, stored illegally.

According to the information report, the agents were in the middle of a preventive operation in the Central area when they noticed the presence of the suspect, who was offering the tickets to passers-by who were making their purchases.

The alleged gunpowder seller offered a wide variety to the public, from objects with a lower explosive capacity, such as “popcorn”, flares and whistlers, to a large explosive with a high amount of gunpowder, similar to a bazooka.

Given this situation, the man was arrested and presented to the Public Ministry for crimes related to the violation of the Federal Firearms and Explosives Law.

SSPE personnel called to avoid the smuggling of this type of artifacts during the Christmas holidays, not only because it is an illegal activity, but also because it represents a risk to the population.

The explosion of these devices can cause skin burns, hearing damage, eye injuries and, in severe cases, the amputation of a part of the body.
