Madagascar 3×3 Basketball: Ankoay Team & Iavoloha Event

Double African champions, the Ankoay 3×3 basketball team, men and women, were decorated on Saturday in Iavoloha. Players and staff members received the honors of the Republic for a continental feat built on work and rigor.

The success of Malagasy 3×3 basketball now goes beyond the strict sporting framework. On Saturday, December 20, in Iavoloha, the president of the Refoundation of the Republic of Madagascar, Michael Randrianirina, elevated players and members of the staff of the Ankoay national teams to the national honorary orders. A solemn recognition for a historic African double, symbol of a booming discipline and a model of collective performance.

In his speech, the Head of State praised “Malagasy youth who are fighting for the future of the Nation”, while reaffirming his desire to support the establishment of a national sports and youth strategy, in order to make these successes long-term and to further structure the high level.

Officers of the National Order were made: Anthony Nelson Rasolomanana, Arnol Alpha Solondrainy, Ravaka Sarobidy Randriatahy, Christiane Jaofera Minaoharisoa, Sydonie Marie Erica Andriamihajanirina, as well as Jean de Dieu Randrianarivelo, men’s head coach, and Eli Mickael Rakotonindrina, women’s head coach.

Tokiniaina Sambatrarimiora, the new Ankoay player, has been elevated to the rank of Knight of the National Order. Solofohery Angelot Razafiarivony, the technical director of the Federation, Harinirina Jimmy Désiré Randriamandimby, president of the competition commission, Dr Georges Pierre Randriamihaija, doctor with the FMBB, and Hasinina Fanantenana Randriamasimanana, administrative manager with the FMBB, were decorated Officers of the Order of Merit.

The following were made Knights of the Order of Merit of Madagascar: Emmanuel Ravoson, treasurer; Cyrelle Mario Rakotomalala, logistics manager; Erick Miarantiana Rakotondravao, physical trainer; Haja Randriamarimanana, men’s assistant coach; and Anthony Andriamaholy, women’s assistant coach.
