The situation of Lucas Stassin becomes tricky in Saint-Étienne. The Imp dreams of a new challenge, but the club does not want to let him go. Last summer, the Belgian was selected despite several offers on the table.
ASSE plays in Ligue 2 and Stassin wants to play at least in the first division. In an old interview, the former Anderlecht player said he was aiming for the 2026 World Cup with the Red Devils as his objective.
His coach tried to calm the situation at a press conference. He compared his case to that of Davitashvili this summer, disturbed by rumors but brilliant once refocused.
Retained again by his club?
The coach assures that he sees a real evolution: a more concentrated, more diligent and more serious player. “I’m not worried about January. Lucas had a lot of noise around him, he came back injured, but since he started again he’s been working very well. He’s the best Lucas since the start of the season,” he said.
A way of making it clear that the coach is counting on him and that management does not intend to sell him this winter. Which doesn’t help Stassin’s affairs. The World Cup could slip right under his nose.
