Lucas Chavanat signed a significant success this Saturday for French cross-country skiing less than two months before the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina. The 30-year-old skier signed his 5th individual World Cup victory, winning by just three hundredths over his first pursuer.
The cross-country skier from Grand-Bornand displayed sparkling form in Switzerland, setting the best time in qualifying before winning his quarter-final and semi-final.
“I resumed training 20 days ago and I really didn’t feel well… And here, I am in first place on a World Cup podium, it’s incredible,” Chanavat underlined at the microphone of the organizers.
Surprise of the day in Davos, the Norwegian Johannes Klaebo, king of the discipline and expected star of the Olympics, was eliminated in the quarter-final. Reigning Olympic champion, he has not lost a World Cup sprint since January 2024.
