Lou Jeanmonnot Wins Grand-Bornand Pursuit | Biathlon Results

Lou Jeanmonnot did not miss his chance in front of his audience. After her second place in the sprint, the Frenchwoman flew over the chase in Grand-Bornand, thanks to a 19 out of 20 shooting this Saturday. A victory which gives him the yellow bib as leader of the World Cup before the mass start on Sunday. Julia Simon finished 4th, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet 9th.

Starting three seconds behind the Swede Hanna Oeberg, Lou Jeanmonnot quickly took the lead of the race thanks to a flawless performance until the last shot. Despite a ball far from the target on the last “standing”, the Frenchwoman was able to manage the last hectometers, alone in the world. The Finnish Suvi Minkkinen, despite a 20 out of 20, finished 30 seconds behind, ahead of the Italian Dorothea Wierer, 33 seconds away with a 19 out of 20.

The other good news this Saturday came from Julia Simon, who obtained her best ranking since her return to competition after her suspension. Starting in 14th position, she was able to count on her precision behind the rifle (19 out of 20) and made a spectacular comeback which allowed her to finish just off the podium. Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, better placed at the start (7th), was penalized by a faulty shot (16 out of 20). She still ranks among the ten best.

On Sunday, Lou Jeanmonnot will have the yellow World Cup leader’s bib at the start of the mass start. The favorite in the Gros Globe race will already have an opportunity to establish her domination.
