Challenger Pro League – matchday 19 – 19/12/25 – 20:01
Lommel SK still won a crazy game against Lierse at home. In a match full of goals and momentum changes, the Limburgers won 4-3, after a late decision in the second half.
Lommel started sharply and took an early lead. Ralf Seuntjens opened the score after seven minutes, after preparatory work by Sam De Grand. The home team continued to push and halfway through the first half, Lucas Schoofs doubled the lead after an assist from Mohamed Salah.
Well begun, half done? No, Lierse did not give up at all and fought their way back into the match before half time.
Emmanuel Matuta brought the visitors closer again and David Asare tied the score just three minutes later.
But the intense game of hash-over had yet to begin at that moment. Just before the break, Lommel struck again, with Seuntjens scoring his second of the evening: 3-2 at halftime.
After the break the game took on a bitter undertone. Still, Lierse kept pushing and it paid off. Cedric Van Meirvenne scored the 3-3 after just over an hour and once again brought tension to the Sovereign Stadium.
However, the tie did not remain on the board for long. Joey Pelupessy still scored the winning goal for the home team: 4-3. In the final phase Lierse tried to get another point, but Lommel held on.
Lommel SK came out on top in an open and attractive match. It climbs to a provisional 4th place. Lierse remains tenth in the midfield of the Challenger Pro League. It also saw Jong Gent, who won 3-1 against tail team Seraing, jump over them tonight.
