Jorge Jesus: Flamengo Return & Declaration

In a state of grace at Al Nassr, with 10 victories in the first 10 rounds of the Saudi championship, Jorge Jesus was questioned by the Brazilians from Canal GOAT (holders of the Saudi league’s broadcasting rights) to comment on Flamengo’s current affairs.

«I follow all of Flamengo’s games», including «the final» of the Intercontinental Cup, lost to PSG on penalties. «They continue to be the best. Many congratulations to the Nation!”, he concluded.

Jorge Jesus guided Flamengo for 13 months and led the club to win the Brasileirão and the Copa dos Libertadores (in 2019), and the South American Super Cup, the Brazilian Super Cup and the Campeonato Carioca (in 2020). Filipe Luís was part of that squad and now coaches Flamengo, having also won the Brasileirão and Libertadores.

However, when asked if Filipe Luís’ Flamengo had already surpassed his 2019 team, JJ was adamant: “No.”

During his debut season at Al Nassr, Jorge Jesus won 18 of his first 20 games in all competitions. The team leads the championship, has already qualified for the knockout stage of the Asian Champions League 2, but was eliminated from the Cup by Sérgio Conceição’s Al Ittihad and lost the Super Cup to Al Ahli (on penalties).
