Verbal agreement confirmed

The son of football legend Johan Cruyff is about to join his father’s home club Ajax Amsterdam. There is a verbal agreement with Jordi Cruyff and the 51-year-old could start as technical director at the beginning of February, the record champions said. However, the final details are still required before implementation can take place.
The former midfielder, who played for FC Barcelona and Manchester United among others, is expected to sign a contract until June 30, 2028. Cruyff was previously a strategic advisor to the Indonesian national team and sports director at FC Barcelona. Former Bundesliga official and current Düsseldorf sports director Sven Mislintat also held the post between May and September 2023.
Jordi Cruyff played for Ajax at youth level until 1988, and now he is returning in an official capacity for the first time in 37 years. His father Johan, after whom the stadium in Amsterdam is named, was successful as both a player and a coach with Ajax. He also left a big mark at FC Barcelona, among others. During his active career he won the Ballon d’Or three times. He died in 2016.
