Jokić’s 56 Points: New NBA Record | Nuggets Win

The NBA Christmas games reached a new record thanks to Nikola Jokić, who led the Denver Nuggets to a victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves in overtime (142-138), with Jokić achieving a historic triple double of 56 points, 16 rebounds and 15 assists, the first time an NBA player scored +55 points, +15 rebounds and +15 assists in a single game.

Jokić’s also scored the third-highest score ever recorded in Christmas Day games, and his fifteenth triple-double of the season. The Nuggets trailed by nine points at one point in overtime after Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards hit a 3-pointer with 1 second left in the Christmas Night game.

Elsewhere, the Houston Rockets swept the Los Angeles Lakers 119-96, the New York Knicks rallied from a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 126-124, and the San Antonio Spurs surprised the Oklahoma City Thunder 117-102, the first time the defending champions have suffered back-to-back losses this season.
