Jean-Louis Gasset began his coaching career at MHSC, first as an assistant then as head coach in 1998. Before notably passing through Saint-Étienne (2017-2019), Bordeaux (2020-2021), Ivory Coast (2022-2024) or OM (2024).

His career is also marked by his duo with Laurent Blanc, since he was his assistant at Bordeaux (2007-2010), with the French team (2010-2012) and at PSG (2013-2016).

His last coaching experience took place on the Montpellier bench, which he returned to between October 2024 and April 2025.
