” href=”https://www.fcupdate.nl/voetballers/ko-itakura”>Ko Itakura must fear for his starting place at Ajax. This is the conclusion reached by Ziggo Sport analysts Wim Kieft and Theo Janssen. The two former football players saw the Japanese fall through the ice in the match they won against Qarabag (2-4).

Itakura started in midfield on Wednesday evening in Azerbaijan, together with seventeen-year-old Sean Steur and Jorthy Mokio. The two talents made a better impression than the experienced Japanese, who, according to the analysts, played a weak match.

“We both had the feeling that things became more stable at Ajax when Itakura left. He just can’t play football. And that deep ball at 1-0, he has to judge it well. The ball has been on the road for so long…” said Kieft in the afterthoughts.

Theo Janssen is even sharper in his assessment of the million-dollar purchase from Ajax: “Itakura should no longer be in the starting line-up. He does not participate in possession of the ball and he is vulnerable defensively.” As an alternative, he puts Youri Regeer forward: “Yes, basically every other midfielder they have.”
