At the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Ragusa, the Court of the Iblean capital has ordered the aggravation of the restrictive measure against TI, a 21-year-old from Ispica, already under house arrest because he is seriously suspected of being arrested for the purpose of dealing narcotic substances (cocaine and hashish).
The young man had been arrested as part of an operation that had made it possible to dismantle a criminal network and to reconstruct and put a stop to a vast drug trafficking in the provinces of Ragusa and Syracuse and a flourishing drug dealing activity in the Iblean hinterland.
The subsequent investigations and checks, carried out by the Carabinieri of the Modica company, made it possible to ascertain that the young man, who had been under house arrest since October, had repeatedly violated the provisions imposed by this precautionary regime. In particular, he did not respect the requirement not to communicate, using social channels to address other suspects and to make threats to witnesses, even with offensive content towards the police force.
The Carabinieri, having verified this situation, informed the Iblean Public Prosecutor’s Office, which, consequently, requested the aggravation of the precautionary measure to which the Ispicese was subjected.
For these reasons, the Court of Ragusa issued an order to replace the precautionary measure of house arrest with that of precautionary custody in prison. The provision was notified by the Carabinieri of Modica to the 21-year-old, who was associated with the prison in Via Di Vittorio, at the disposal of the judicial authority.
