The “Grandfather” comes from a year 2025 in which he moved away from official competitions, although he never stopped training at the Ciudad Deportiva.

“2025 was a difficult year due to personal and academic reasons, I had to be out of the process this year, fortunately, I already fulfilled those commitments I had and now I am ready to resume the competition, which are the selective ones, this year I could not participate but I never stopped training,” he said.

Recently, the Cachanilla held a camp in the United States, under the command of a Korean coach who worked with national teams from that country; Then he shot in San Luis Potosí, in a mandatory tournament to attend the official events of 2026.

In the middle of his training at the archery field in the Ciudad Deportiva, Luis Álvarez highlighted that in February he will be in the first selective, an Indoor World Cup in Mérida, Yucatán.

For the month of March, he indicated, other selections will come and in 2026 there will be the World Cups and the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026, the beginning of the Olympic process towards Los Angeles 2028.

How does “Grandpa” feel?
“Well, well, everything is working there, some mechanical issues to check with the bow, but everything is going smoothly, settling in a surprisingly good way,” responded the recurve bow specialist.
