Men’s doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be India’s sole representative at the BWF World Tour Finals 2025starting in Hangzhou, the People’s Republic of China, from Wednesday.
The 2025 BWF World Tour Finals matches from the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium will be available for live streaming and telecast in India.
Now in its eighth edition, the BWF World Tour Finals is the culmination of the badminton season and will conclude the BWF World Tour.
The top eight players and duos from the year according to the Race to World Tour Finals badminton rankings compete at the season finale.
Competitions are held in men’s and women’s singles and doubles as well as mixed doubles with each NOC allowed a maximum of two entries for every event.
Former world No. 1 Satwik-Chirag, currently third in the men’s doubles badminton rankings, are India’s lone challenge at the badminton season-ender.
They won the bronze medal at the BWF World Championships and finished runners-up at the Hong Kong Open and the China Masters earlier this year.
The Indian badminton players also reached the semi-finals at the Malaysia Open, India Open, Singapore Open, China Open and Denmark Open in 2025.
This will be Sat-Chi’s second appearance at the BWF World Tour Finals after 2021.
Asian Games champions Satwik and Chirag have been clubbed in Group B. China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik are the other pairs in Group B with the Indian pair.

Satwik-Chirag will start their campaign against Paris 2024 silver medallists Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang of China.
Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang currently lead the head-to-head against Satwik and Chirag having won seven out of their 10 clashes so far.
Two-time Olympic bronze medallists Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik are also placed in Group B with Sat-Chi.
Reigning world champions in men’s doubles Kim Won Ho and Seo Seungjae of the Republic of Korea are the top seeds and placed in Group A.
Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand were India’s only entry at last year’s BWF World Tour Finals. They were knocked out in the group stage having won one of their three matches.
Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, who won the women’s singles title in 2018, is the only Indian to have ever won at the BWF World Tour Finals.
