The votes for a draw against the storks
The Lions separated from Holstein Kiel with a 1-1 draw after 90 intense minutes. After a good start and the lead, Eintracht missed the second goal. Before halftime, Lukas Frenkert’s dismissal changed the statics of the game, and Kiel was able to equalize before the break. Although both teams still had the opportunity to take the lead in the second half, they went unused. So after 90 minutes the points remained divided. This is where the voices come into play.

“Today it feels more like two lost points because we deserved more. The red card was three wrong decisions in one. That’s why emotions are high. For me, we were the dominant team today and put our stamp on the game. It was a great performance and the red card breaks that a bit. It’s the 15th matchday and the table is brutally tight. So it feels even more like we lost two points. I’m still proud of the boys that we took this one point. When it was ten against ten, for me we were clearly the better team again, we were able to put our stamp on the game and create a lot of chances. I would also like to single out Chris Conteh, who played an outstanding game but just couldn’t reward himself in the end. Now we just have to keep working diligently to score points until the winter, and then we’ll be well prepared with the way we perform here.

“We wanted to keep the tempo high because we knew that Kiel had 120 minutes of the cup under its belt. We didn’t manage to do that. First of all, we were missing two important players before the game. Sven Köhler overnight with a fever and Fabio Di Michele Sanchez in the final training with a slight concussion. Leon Bell Bell was also there, which is why we didn’t have a player for the left side. We then had to rotate. That’s how Sidney Raebiger made his starting eleven comeback and memo Aydin had to go to the left. Marcel’s analysis (Rapp, editor’s note) was consistent. Nevertheless, we were always the more dangerous team when we were outnumbered. Apart from two goal chances from Kiel, we had the game under control for the most part and in the end was very unlucky because there was still one foot in between. Overall, it was an important point for us because the league is very tight. The performance was honored by the fans today, we have to take that on an emotional level, even if it feels like we lost two points.

“It was a game with many twists and turns. Braunschweig’s first chance is the penalty, which means we are 1-0 behind. From my point of view, it was a disjointed game. I felt that every goal kick, every throw-in took what felt like two minutes before it continued. However, that’s not a criticism of Braunschweig. The referee has to be responsible for wanting a game like that. That’s why we didn’t manage to get the game up to speed when we had the ball and give the opponent a task Nevertheless, just before half-time we had one more man due to the red card for Lukas Frenkert. We came out of half-time and had a lot of plans about how we wanted to play football. Shortly afterwards we got the yellow-red card and then it was a very wild, very hectic game where both teams had chances to score a goal.
