HELL Boxing 10: Végh vs Boráros – Results & Highlights

Former Slovak MMA fighter Attila Végh drew with the legendary home boxer Zsolt Erdei at the tournament of the Hungarian boxing organization HELL Boxing Kings in Budapest. Another well-known face of Slovak MMA, Gábor Boráros, also boxed at the gala evening.

Végh boxed with a former world champion

Végh took on Erdei in the main match of the night. It was a big event in Hungary, the local boxer returned to the ring after 11 years.

Erdei is a former world boxing champion. In 2004, he won the WBO light heavyweight title and was able to defend it 11 times. In 2009, he added the WBC cruiserweight title to his collection.

He ended his professional career in 2014 with a respectable record of 34 wins and 1 defeat. He also has an Olympic bronze medal in middleweight from Sydney 2000.

Végh, who was 11 years younger, had a height advantage (11 cm) in addition to his age, and in recent years he was more active in the cage and ring. Despite this, he was already counted in the 1st round, although he protested that he ended up on the ground because of a trip, not because of an opponent’s punch.

Boxing took place for six rounds of three minutes each, the match had an even course. The result was a tie after the majority verdict of the point judges 57-57, 58-55, 57-57.

Végh had his first fight since June of this year, when he lost to Karlos Vémol in the decisive third round and ended his professional MMA career.

Another disaster of Boráros

Former Slovak MMA star Gábor Boráros also presented himself at the tournament. The career of the 33-year-old fighter has experienced a steep decline in recent years. He suffered several losses when he appeared physically unprepared for the fight.

It was similar in Budapest, where he faced the Hungarian kickboxing champion Attila Koncz. Boráros was physically declining during the fight. At the end of the 3rd round, he went to the ground after a series of punches ended with an unintentional one to the back of the head. He was not counted, but apparently because of fatigue he refused to continue the fight.
