Gsella Replaces Voigt as District League Coach

At the same time, the club sent words of thanks to the outgoing coach: “We would like to thank Alexander Voigt for his commitment and wish him much success for the future.”

With David Gsella The club is now relying on an experienced coach. The 43-year-old was last four seasons for the State league team SC Borussia Lindenthal-Hohenlind responsible and works full-time as a trainer at the 1. Youth Football School (taxofit) Cologne. He also looked after Hohenlind until June 30, 2025, before making the move to Bergisch Gladbach. The SSV board of directors Michael Schenker is convinced of the choice: “We are pleased that we were able to hire an experienced trainer in David Gsella. He convinced us in several conversations with his passionate and competent manner.”

Gsella himself is also looking forward to his new task. After a conscious break, the Leverkusen player is now ready to get back into day-to-day business. “After a six-month break, I’m looking forward to the task at SSV. I will do everything to ensure that the team gets back on the road to success and that we achieve the best possible,” explained the B license holder.

Gsella will make his debut on the bench of SSV Jan Wellem on 17 January 2026 if in a test match with the district league team SC Germania Erftstadt kicks off in the Hennes-Weisweiler Sports Park. The start of the competitive game in the second half of the season follows on February 22, 2026 with the away game at TFC Cologne.

“Opinions on the reasons for separation logically differ”Voigt commented on the club’s decision. However, the 47-year-old doesn’t plan on taking a long break from the coaching bench: “I’m definitely ready for something new.”
