Fousseny Kaloga: Meet the “Green Thrill” Innovator

At only 15 years old, Foussény Kaloga has already established himself as one of the most promising profiles at the ASSE training center. An explosive and unpredictable winger, the young Stéphanois advances step by step not in Forez and confirms the hopes placed in him. Portrait of a talent on the rise.

Born on August 25, 2010, Foussény Kaloga discovered football at a very young age. He started at US Roissy-en-Brie in July 2015, a club that he will not leave until July 2023. Eight founding years for the player from the Paris region, who built his technical and mental base there. Very early on, his talent did not go unnoticed. His ability to eliminate, his creativity and his ease in playing the game attract the eye of informed observers.

It was during his last year at Roissy that he was spotted by the pair Mahamadou Gory – Hamdane Karouni. Seduced by his profile, they closely follow his progress and play a determining role in the rest of his journey. Convinced of his potential, the player signed for Torcy at the same time as his signing for ASSE. A club where the young winger continues his training from the U14 category. A change of dimension for Kaloga, who then discovered a more demanding environment and a higher level of competition.

An unpredictable and confusing winger

In Torcy, Foussény Kaloga played for two seasons, in U14 then in U15. His educator at the time, Mathieu Czupryna, remembers him as a player apart. “He is a very strong winger when you find him facing the game, oriented towards the opposing goal. He is extremely difficult to defend one on one as he is so unpredictable”he explains. Endowed with excellent shoulder play, natural feints and an almost ambidextrous laterality, Kaloga has an offensive palette rare at his age.

His strong point remains his ability to get off the dribble, especially when he opens the path on his left foot. “When he comes off the dribble on his left foot, you get chills about what’s going to happen.”confides his former coach again. A modern offensive profile, capable of turning a match around by taking the initiative, but also a player still under construction, who has gradually learned to embrace his talent.

Rapid progress at ASSE

It was upon his arrival in Torcy that Foussény Kaloga joined AS Saint-Étienne. After his two seasons at the Ile-de-France club, he officially joined the Greens training center in the summer of 2025. In Forez, the young winger did not take long to stand out. He completed summer preparation with Kevin De Jesus’ U16s, before being quickly integrated into David Le Moal’s group (national U17s).

The numbers speak for themselves. At mid-season, Kaloga played 12 games out of a possible 14, including 9 as a starter. Significant playing time for a player from a regular upgrade. This confidence placed by the staff demonstrates its ability to adapt quickly to the demands of the high level and to respond to older opponents.

A discreet but essential boy to the group – ASSE

On a human level, Foussény Kaloga has also evolved a lot. When he started at Torcy, he was rather reserved, in particular because of the upgrade (when he was U15, he played with the Torcy U16s) with players a year older. “He was capable of doing extraordinary things but did not always dare”remembers Mathieu Czupryna. Gradually, encouraged by his educators, he gains confidence and opens up more to others.

Today, Kaloga is described as a thoughtful, calm boy who is perfectly integrated into a collective. Discreet in group life, he also knows how to use his humor when the context lends itself to it. Coming from a very healthy family environment, with caring and present parents, he displays a maturity appreciated by all his educators.

Early national recognition

This constant progression does not go unnoticed. Continuing his performances at ASSE, Foussény Kaloga was recently selected for the French U16 Avenir team. He was observed during a gathering at the beginning of December, during which he notably played a match against the National U17s at the Stade Malherbe in Caen. An important recognition for the young Stéphanois, which confirms his status as a player to follow very closely.

An anecdote sums up his state of mind well according to his trainer at Torcy. Last May, during a tournament in Guadeloupe, his participation was deemed essential by the staff. But the National Brevet Diploma is approaching. After some negotiations, an agreement was reached with his family: Kaloga agreed to study on site and pass his exam. Bet held. A strong symbol of his seriousness, his commitment and his ability to meet challenges, both on and off the field.
