Footballer’s Tribute: Jerseys for Charcot Disease Research

Christmas is a festive time, of family reunions, but it is also a time to think of others and carry out beautiful deeds. This is the meaning of the initiative proposed by Enzo Leopold.

On his Instagram account, the German football player published a touching message this Thursday morning in which he announced that he was selling two match-worn jerseys for a cause that is “particularly close to his heart”.

That of research against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also called Charcot disease. “A rare disease of the nervous system, incurable to this day” which killed his father “around five and a half years ago” he confides.

The jerseys on sale are those from the matches against Bochum and the other from the match against FC Nuremberg. The auction will end on December 31.

The midfielder of the Hanover club in the German 2nd division announces that he will double the amount of “the two highest offers” and will donate the sums raised to the department dedicated to research into this disease at the Charité hospital in Berlin.

“I would be delighted if we together supported ALS research at the Charité in Berlin with our donations,” writes the young man who launched this great initiative two years ago. Every donation helps develop new treatment options and give hope to those affected. »
