Fiyero & Boq: “For Good” – Wicked Analysis

The true fans of Wicked they knew it. A scene comes to light that was deleted from Part 1 and showed Jonathan Bailey and Ethan Slater at their hottest, taking off their shirts in a moment that is as funny as it is revealing.

As revealed by Bowen Yang, the original idea was to show Bailey “in all his glory”, followed by an insecure Boq who decides to imitate him to look just as attractive, only for the audience to discover that Slater also has a remarkable physique.

The deleted montage would have gone between the “Popular” number and the scene of Doctor Dillamond’s dismissal, and It served to strengthen the new friendship between Fiyero, Boq, Galinda, Elphaba and Nessa. It included symbolic elements—poppies, badminton, and even Boq with an ax—that function as a subtle foreshadowing of what is to come.

The good news is that the sequence is part of the special content of “Wicked: For Good”available to watch at home starting December 30. An unpublished gem that expands the universe of Oz and rewards those who wanted to see beyond the final cut.
