The French Football Federation is preparing to display a portrait of the sports journalist imprisoned in Algeria on the facade of its Paris headquarters.
The French Football Federation (FFF) must display on Wednesday December 17 the portrait of journalist Christophe Gleizes, sentenced on appeal to seven years in prison in Algeria, on the facade of its headquarters in Paris, AFP learned from the body on Thursday.
The FFF will bring together the following day at the beginning of the evening the support committee of the collaborator of the magazines So Foot and Society, imprisoned since June in Algeria, where he had gone as part of a report on local football, said Philippe Diallo, the president of the body, present Tuesday during the 3rd meeting of this committee which also includes members of the journalist’s family.

A call for his release during the Coupe de France before Christmas
“In total support and complete solidarity with Christophe Gleizes and his family”the «3F» do “everything to accelerate the liberation process without interfering in diplomatic relations between the two countries”explained a source close to the Federation to AFP.
She will take advantage of the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France on December 20 and 21 to reaffirm her support and call for her release through stadium speakers and competition broadcasters.
Christophe Gleizes was arrested in May 2024 in Algeria, where he was for an article on the country’s most successful football club, Jeunesse sportif de Kabylie (JSK), based in Tizi Ouzou, 100 km east of Algiers.
The Tizi Ouzou Court of Appeal confirmed last week the seven-year prison sentence of the French journalist, imprisoned since June, for “apology of terrorism”.
France said “deeply regret” this verdict, through the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
